Why aren't we all out there.  Yes there is evidence from that keanest of fisherman Captain Cranky of the capture of a 52.5kg yellowfin tuna caught by Harley Ray on Mr Hooker  with 15kg line on Sunday 16th October 2011.  Crew for the day were Brock Lazzaro and Luke Holley.

You have got to give it to Paul that if the fish are going to be caught there is only one way to find out and that is to get out to sea and have a go.  No wonder Paul does so well with the points and trophy awards because he spends the time looking.  So come on folks, get the gear organised and start fishing because it won't be  long and we will have more action happening in the waters off the south coast of NSW out of Bermagui.

The new committee for the BBGAC has been elected and the club is pleased to see some new faces joining the existing committee to keep our club strong and active as we have seen for a number of years now. 

A big welcome to our new President Denis Lucardie and our new Secretary Teagan Lucardie.  It is great to see this father / daughter combination for the executive of the committee, as well as active fishing members to fill the positions.  A huge thankyou to outgoing President Paul Blacka and Secretary Geoff Lindrea, but we didn't let them escape our committee, so it is good to see them still involved.

Preceding the presentation at 6.00pm is the Annual General Meeting of the club.  This year the club is looking for new faces for the committee and urges all members to join in and nominate for a position on the committee.  All positions are vacant and nominations should be put forward before the meeting, so contact any of the retiring committee for details on nomination. 

The Southern Zone did extremely well in the NSW GFA last year, with trophies won by individual Bermagui Club members as well as the Southern Zone cleaning up in all sections.  So come along and join the celebration as each and every point/capture that all our members had last year contributed to the final tally and winning the NSW GFA Awards.  

The NSW Department of Primary Industries discussion paper and submission form on grey nurse shark protection has been released.

The public are invited to make a submission on the issues raised in the discussion paper and on future management arrangements for the protection and recovery of grey nurse shark in NSW.

The paper will be on public exhibition until Friday 26th August 2011.  You are encouraged to visit the NSW DPI  website for further information http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries
